This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to identify and apply an awareness of hazardous substances and dangerous goods requirements. It includes identifying legislation relating to hazardous substances and dangerous goods, segregating dangerous goods and hazardous substances, and dealing with incidents involving hazardous substances and dangerous goods. This unit is intended for people who have minimal or no contact with explosives or hazardous substances and dangerous goods as part of their job role but who require an awareness of how hazardous substances and dangerous goods are labelled and segregated when being transported.

TLIF0009 Ensure the safety of transport activities (Chain of Responsibility)

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to ensure the safety of transport activities. It includes identifying features and applying chain of responsibility, obligation in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) or applicable state/territory law and regulations. It also includes identifying and reporting chain of responsibility risks. Transport activities as defined by the HVNL or applicable state/territory law and regulations.

Load, Unload & Secure Goods/Cargo

This course consists of two units of competence: TLID0015 Load and unload goods/cargo & TLIA1001 Secure cargo. The combination of these two units provides participants with the skills and knowledge to load, unload and secure goods and/or cargo in accordance with procedures and regulatory requirements, as part of work activities within industry. It includes loading/ unloading goods and cargo, lashing/ unlashing and protecting a load and completing documentation in accordance with relevant state or territory legislative, permit and code of practice requirements.
Course duration and price may change based on participants’ prior experience and knowledge and/or the supply of DRM’s or the client’s vehicle/truck/equipment.
